What you may do
Read, search, copy verses, share the verse images, and point anyone here you like. The scripture itself is in the public domain or openly licensed — it belongs to everyone, and nothing on this site changes that.
You may quote verses freely. If you reuse the cross-reference data, credit OpenBible.info, as its licence requires.
What you may not do
- Attack, overload or attempt to break the site
- Scrape it in a way that degrades it for others — the underlying data is freely available from the sources named on the About page, so take it from there instead
- Present the site or its contents as your own work
- Use it for anything unlawful
Accuracy
Scripture is reproduced from public-domain and openly licensed translations, and we take care to present it faithfully. Errors are still possible — in the source data, in transmission, or in our handling of it. For anything that matters, check against a printed Bible.
Commentary is historical work by long-dead authors. It reflects their era, their scholarship and their opinions, not ours and not an established fact.
No warranty
FirstVerse is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise it will be available, accurate, uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FirstVerse and its operators are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site. It is a free reference tool, offered in good faith.
Not counsel
