What this is
FirstVerse helps you find a Bible verse when you know what you're carrying but not where to look. You describe it in your own words — “I can't stop worrying”, “how do I forgive someone who hurt me” — and the site finds passages that speak to it, whether or not they share a single word with what you typed.
You can also look up a passage directly. John 3:16 or Ps 23:4 takes you straight there.
Nothing is rewritten
Every verse appears exactly as its translation prints it. Nothing is paraphrased, summarised, modernised or generated. The search decides which verses to show you and nothing more — it never writes scripture, and it never puts words in the Bible's mouth.
Where you see interpretation, it is clearly labelled as such: historical commentary by named scholars, with their name and the year they wrote it.

Only freely licensed translations are used. Modern copyrighted versións such as the NIV and ESV are deliberately absent — publishing them here would not be lawful.
Commentary and cross-references
Verse commentary comes from public-domain works by scholars including Matthew Henry (1710), John Gill (1763), Adam Clarke (1831) and Jamieson, Fausset & Brown (1871). These are historical readings, offered as one person's understanding — not as doctrine and not as scripture.
Cross-references come from OpenBible.info, drawn largely from the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge, used under a Creative Commons Attribution licence.
Who it's for
Anyone. The subjects are grouped by situation rather than by theological category, so a teenager, a parent up at 3am, and a grandparent all find a door in. It is free, requires no account, and asks nothing of you.
FirstVerse is not a church and holds no denominational position. It doesn't tell you what to believe. It shows you what the text says and who has written about it, and leaves the rest to you, your conscience, and the people you trust.
Qué es esto
FirstVerse te ayuda a encontrar un versículo cuando sabes lo que llevas dentro pero no donde buscarlo. Lo describes con tus propias palabras — «no puedo dejar de preocuparme», «cómo perdono a quien me lastimó» — y el sitio encuentra pasajes que hablan de eso, compartan o no alguna palabra con lo que escribiste.
También puedes buscar una cita directamente. Juan 3:16 o Sal 23:4 te lleva allí sin rodeos.
No cambiamos nada
Cada versículo aparece tal como lo imprime su versión. No parafraseamos, no resumimos, no modernizamos y ninguna máquina escribe el texto. La búsqueda solo decide cuáles versículos mostrarte, nada mas.
Cuando hay interpretación, se indica claramente: comentarios históricos de autores con nombre y fecha.

FirstVerse no es una iglesia y no tiene posición denominacional. No te dice que creer. Te muestra lo que dice el texto y quien ha escrito sobre el, y deja lo demás en tus maños, en tu conciencia y en la gente en quien confías.
